====Creating Properties====

Properties can be created from the [[managing_properties|properties list]] under [[administration_page|Administration]].

Although there are several types available, the most common are...

^Property Type^Explanation^
|ID Number / Code|A unique identifier for the asset. This may be the identity of the asset in other information management systems|
|Plain Text|Plain text. Often used for model numbers, manufacturer names, drawing IDs, serial numbers etc.|
|An Analogue Value or Measurement|An [[analogue|analogue]]/continuous value (ie 2.5, 9.8 99.4) |
|A Digital / Boolean Value|A [[digital|digital]] value - 0 or 1|
|A Discrete Value / Enumeration|A [[enumeration|set of discrete values]] (eg. 0,1,2,3 & 4) |
|Lookup From A Table|[[Lookup]] a value from a long list |

Once you **create** your property, you will need to [[assigning and changing properties|assign it to one or more assets]].
